graffiti

Spotted in: Santiago
Message: Unknown

When I first saw this nervous little pig in a different location late the previous night, I immediately identified with it. And I took it’s picture. The next day however, it suddenly appeared again and I was able to get a better shot of it.

The bars in front are real bars and not part of the piece. This was in an escape-proof private parking lot. Lots of high metal fences and chains and locks everywhere

Dragon

Spotted in: Valparaíso
Message: Unknown. It looks a bit like either a character from Futurama or one of the dragons from the game Puzzle Bobble aka Bust-A-Move. Probably just an unknown urban wall creature. There are so many unchartered species

Pibe

Spotted in: Valparaíso
Message: “El Pibe Con Futuro” (another one that is hard to fully understand. M told me that this is pure Argentinian slang and that it means The boy with a future. I suppose the light bulbs mean that he has a bright future. Possibly because he is sitting at his desk and doing what he is supposed to like a good boy)

Edit: Eduardo kindly sent me the following analysis of this by mail. many thanks!

…he is the pibe with future `cos he is studyng by nights (not having fun) while the others are on the streets having fun …the light bulbs represent night time and that is late….a closed room lightened from ..the pibe without present..just future
the bulbs doesnt represent his “ideas” but the efort of keeping himself in a claoustrofovic atmosphere..”bbeleaving that doing so he’ll have a future instead the one who are painting walls at the same ours…is an ironic calling for the spray-guys about life choices…maybe to himself aswell??

Paseo

Spotted in: Valparaíso
Message: “Paseo” (tricky one to understand. a Paseo is a short walk. It also means Avenue. The grumpy dog could be saying that this street is for walking. Or he could be allowing you to pass. Maybe something to do with dog walking. I simply don’t know)
