Since it was getting really dark, I had to return by the road and not the narrow path I had arrived on. The road was broad but unlit and it took a really long time to get back down to the city. It was a strange experience walking there alone in darkness with the endless carpet of lights underneath me.
At one point all the sounds of the city were completely muted. I could see the cars but there was no sound of traffic whatsoever. The only sounds that could be heard was that of barking dogs. Nothing but millions of lights and a lot of barking dogs. It felt like the first time during my trip that I was really experiencing something memorable.
