Across the street
And then the next frame from the first roll.

This was shot just after the previous posting. I wanted to take a portrait of the lady who owns this mobile kiosk, and M asked her for me. But the woman refused, shyly. So I tried to shoot a photo of this kid’s trike instead. But he moved before I could get ready and from this angle you cannot see the long chopper front of pedal vehicle. Nevertheless, I think the photo is ok.
That evening at the plaza when M acted as my assistant, asking these people if I could take their picture, I suddenly had grand plans to do a huge portrait project from Santiago. Ideas for chapters and themes were already forming. But she never did have time to go out walking with me again during the 4 months I was there, and the project never happened. Maybe next time…

Feeling more or less restored to my normal self, I think it is time I started posting some new photos. I have been home from Chile for 7 weeks now and still haven’t unpacked my camera. Or the rest of the suitcase for that matter. But I have developed films.
This was from my first roll shot in Santiago. My assistant for a day-M, asked this elderly gentleman if I could photograph his dog. Which seamed to please the man a great deal.
There are generally two types of dogs in Santiago; the big ones that run wild everywhere in the streets, and the small lap dogs that people treat like their own children. Pupi, meaning puppy, seemed to be well taken care of.
After shooting this, I moved a little and shot a somewhat better one. Forgetting to wind the film afterwards, I double-exposed another yawning and stretching dog over it and ruined both of those shots. A typical thing for me to do. Still, if I try to forget about that other shot which would have been a bit better, this one does nicely I think.
